CASE ADMITTED An Orihuela Court yesterday decided that it would begin hearings as requested by the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor into proceedings in theTown. A brief statement revealed that it was 'looking into' allegations of an alleged abuse of territorial order against Mayor Jose Manuel Medina, and that it would now see whether the case as presented 'had any merits or should be thrown out'.
ALL MADE PUBLIC Alfas del Pi yesterday awoke to see a series of posters all demanding: "What are they costing us?" that had been set in various strategic points of the town. The posters also give precise details of the salaries of all the members of the Partido Popular - majority Town Council. The posters alleged that the PP was costing the town over three quarters of a million Euros annually, and the distribution of the posters is remarkably in line with the latest Socialist accusations on the Town Council that the PP is being paid a lot for doing nothing. Lawyers for the PP in Alicante are considering taking legal action over the incident. Meanwhile, Benissa Town Hall yesterday stated that it was inviting residents of the Municipality's coastal zones to a meeting to outline future plans for the area. The meeting will be in German and Spanish on May 23 and one day later in English and Spanish.
