BENISSA TO APPROVE PLANIt is expected that Benissa Town Council will approve a new PAI plan forthe northern and western areas of the town, granting the UrbanizadoraRonda Norte de Benissa s.l. the rights for the development thatenvisages the construction of 2,000 new homes. It has also been revealedthat one of the directors of the developing company is Vicente Cotino, the brother of Juan Cotino, who is currently the Conseller forAgriculture. Under the Benissa plan, the five areas affected areOrxelles 1, Pla de Molins, Costera del Povil, UE Costa I & UE Costa II,grouping half a million square metres that will also involve thecreation of a northern roundabout for Benissa and a 33 metre wideboulevard that will join the Avenida de Madrid to the top of the Costeradel Povil and the Jalon Crossroads. This is expected to further easetraffic congestion in Benissa, as the much-heralded by-pass is not onthe cards for at least two more years. The owners of properties affectedby the plans are expected to present a legal case against the project.
