From Valencia Life
NO WE WON'T
Carmen Caffarel, the Socialist-appointed director of state broadcaster RTVE issued a brief statement yesterday in which she defended the recent transmission of a piece in the current affairs programme Informe Semanal that was highly critical of the Valencian land Laws. Called 'Limitless Building' the piece drew attention to the plight of several people in the coastal area of Benissa. Miss Caffarel rejected the complaint from the Valencian Government that the report was one-sided, and refused to issue any amendments to it despite the Valencian Government complaining that the piece damaged the overall image of the Valencian Community, and equally refused to broadcast a 'counter documentary' sent to her by the Valencian Government "as basically it was a promotional film." The statement added that RTVE was prepared to pull out of its production centre in Valencia 'if things got any worse'. Esteban Gonzalez Pons, the Valencian Government Spokesman stated that Miss Caffarel should fix 'the date and time' if she wants to pull out of the facilities afforded RTVE by the Valencian Government, ' as we need the space for our own television station'.

Valencia Life 25.1.6-
In what many saw as a surprise move yesterday, Benissa Mayor Juan Bautista Rosello resuscitated the plan for a by-pass of the town as proposed by the company belonging to the brother of the Conseller for Agriculture Juan Cotino. Vicente Cotino had unveiled plans for a 33-metre-wide bypass and some 2000 homes, at a cost of some 9 million Euros, the majority of which would have to be borne by the 25 owners of the land involved, but the number of owners may have gone down, according to Mr. Rosello, 'as the majority of the landowners want the project undertaken as quickly as possible, and the project will also enable us to create 200 units of protected housing'. However, what is rather odd about this project if it goes ahead is that there will then be two bypasses of Benissa some 100metres apart - the other having been approved by the Infrastructure Ministry - for execution this year. Opposition voices have termed the idea 'stupid', whilst a spokesmen for the CIBE-Bloc opposition party stated: "60% of all the urbanizable land in Benissa is in the hands of companies outside the town, whilst in Benissa there are some 500 construction companies."

PROJECTS GOING AHEAD
It has been revealed that the Conselleria for the Territory has given the green light to a multitude of projects for Castellon Province, which includes the construction of golf courses. The new ruling states that these courses may be built in land declared buildable, and equally, the promoters do not have to seek special permission from the water companies before starting their projects. The Conselleria this year in expected to approvethe construction of one golf course in Benicassim, one in Burriana, one inTorreblanca, three in PeƱiscola, two in Xilxes, one each in Almenara andXert, and three for the area around the World of Illusion Theme Park. The department run by Rafael Blasco has already approved the plans for Benicassim, Torreblanca and Burriana, and it seems likely that the Xilxes project which envisages a golf course close to the sea, to be approved soon.
