SOWING THE SEEDS OF DISCORD
( Valencia Legislature (Cortes)
It would appear that the future passage of the Valencian Land Laws - LUV - through the Valencian Parliament is sowing the seeds of considerable discord amongst the local political parties. The Conseller for the Territory Rafael Blasco has publicly defended the new law, what had already been modified in order to include 109 amendments. Despite this, Adolf Sanmartin for the Socialists voiced his disapproval for the entire law and then launched into an attack on the Conseller whom he called a 'political predator'. Inpresenting the LUV, the Conseller stated that it was in substitution of the previous law enacted during the Presidency of the Socialists in the Community under Joan Lerma, and it was this law that has opened a Pandora's box of complaints from individual owners, builders and promoters. On top ofthis the European norms in this regard showed a considerable discrepancy with the LRAU, and drew the attention of the Valencian Government to this, requesting that it be altered without delay. The Conseller stated that a number of changes had been introduced to the LUV, which Mr. Blasco presented as 'a European Urbanizing Law'. The debate then turned into a political scrap in which both the Socialists and the ruling Partido Popular threw allegations of corruption at each other, in an extremely unpleasant turn of events, Finally, the Partido Popular majority on the Parliament rejected all the opposing measures to the new law that were presented by the Socialists.

Also yesterday, Rafael Blasco caused a considerable amount of headscratching after his department formally requested that the EnvironmentMinistry acquire sea frontal land in Daimus, Miramar, Piles and Xeraco. The mayors of all these towns have expressed their astonishment at the proposals as in each case, the areas involved are completely constructed.

LAW TO BE DEBATED
It has been revealed that every single one of the points opposing the new Valencian Land Laws or LUV will be fully debated in the Autonomous Parliament this coming week. The debate, which is expected to take place this coming Wednesday will be undertaken at the behest of the Valencian Socialists and the Bloc/Entesa group. For their part the Socialists have stated that the implementation of the LUV will make the situation over urbanizations in the Valencian Community far worse than it actually is, whilst spokesman for the Bloc/Entesa group have stated the view that it is a 'bluff' that does nothing at all to resolve any of the problems in this regard - be they social, territorial or environmental'.
