EUROPEAN DAY OF CIVIL JUSTICE

TO HELP OUR FIGHT AGAINST THE LRAU LAND LAWS PLEASE TAKE PART IN THE FOLLOWING.

Thanks to a fellow AUN member, Janice Batterbee for supplying the following information.

European Day of Civil Justice – Thursday 23 October 2003

Jonathan Faull, the Director-General for Justice and Home Affairs in the European Commission, will be taking part in a discussion forum on the Internet between 6pm and 8pm on Thursday 23 October 2003.

This is an on-line chat, however questions can be sent in advance and will either be discussed during the ´chat´ itself, or an answer sent in the following week.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to advertise our land/property problems and our views on the LRAU.

To send your questions in advance:
http://europa.eu.int/comm/chat/mailbox/form_fr.htm

The website gives a box in which a question can be asked. Our letters regarding the LRAU must therefore be in question format rather than a statement of what is happening or our individual problems. A bombardment of questions on the land problems will help our cause, so please think of a question and send it off via the website. Anyone can take part, this is a wonderful opportunity for everyone, not only the families affected by the land laws but also the supporters of the cause to send in their questions and join in the fight for the rights of the Valencian land owners.

Also, two very interesting websites to look at

Justice and Home Affairs (JAI):

Judicial Network in civil and commercial matters:

Many thanks to Valencia Life for the following article:

URBANISING PLANS

According to the Alicante based newspaper Informacion, Rafael Blasco, the Conseller for the Territory is putting together a new Territorial Action Plan that specifically aims to regulate building along the coastline of the Valencian Community. Currently, the idea would appear to be one of ‘dense’ urbanization of the vertical type, taking Benidorm as a prime example. Equally, the 146 kilometres of coastline that have not been urbanised are also under the microscope, one hundred kilometres of which are already protected. The Plan, which is one of those left over from the previous administration, will have a standing such that the Town Halls affected will have to conform to the Plan, adapting any projects that may be considered locally in order to bring them in line with it.

DEMO STAGED

The Abusos-Urbanisticos-No group staged a demonstration yesterday outside the Valencian Parliament, and read a manifesto of their complaints against the Valencian Land Laws better known as LRAU. After the reading, the manifesto was then officially handed in to the Parliament and has become a fully registered part of the current Parliamentary session. The group has already succeeded in obtaining extensive coverage of its fight to stop the abuses that have taken place under the land laws, with stories and features appearing in Meridien TV, GMTV, Granada TV, BBC Radio 4, CNN and the International Herald Tribune. An article about land abuse in the Valencian Community also appears in today’s editions of The Sunday Times. Under the title “Focus: Expats duped by land grab on Spanish villas”, Clare Rewcastle, Jon Ungoed-Thomas and Peter Upton reveal the truth behind the sale of several homes by one real estate agency – Ocean Estates.
